Tawakkol Karman from Yemen, and Leymah Gbowee, from Liberia, who were just awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo along with Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, came to speak at the university today. The three women were awarded the prize for “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work” according to the official Nobel statement.
